National Geographic Magazine featured a story on The National Air and Space Museum written by astronaut Col. Michael Collins. The lede photo and another resulted from my own time after hours of performing the regular internship duties under the guidance of Robert Gilka, the Director of Photography. Mr. Gilka had simply wrote a memo saying, "Show me what's in the Air and Space Museum," as his way of giving me the assignment. I spent every opportunity of my own time after office hours...
